Description

To warn you of severe weather, this radio detects signals 24 hours a day from climate monitoring centers throughout North America* and issues an immediate alert if hazardous conditions are approaching your region.

It automatically notifies you of 31 types of major threats, such as hurricanes, wildfires and civil emergencies, and lets you set optional warnings for over 40 other events, ranging from blizzards and thunderstorms to flash freezes, high winds and power outages. As soon as a watch, warning or advisory is issued, it displays a scrolling message across the screen and flashes a color-coded LED indicator. You can set it to provide notifications for up to 25 regions, so you can keep an eye on a vacation property when you’re not there, or monitor the weather conditions of out-of-town relatives, for example. In addition, you can set the language to English, French or Spanish, and choose to receive an audio signal in the form of a voice announcement or 80 dB siren for any of the alerts.

Customizing your settings is easy using the step-by-step manual and following simple prompts on the large LCD screen. A battery backup ensures continuous operation during power outages (requires four AA batteries, not included). It also functions as a regular AM/FM alarm clock radio (the weather alerts automatically override radio broadcasts). The radio measures approximately 6 3/4" × 5 1/2" × 2 1/4" tall and weighs less than 1 lb (without batteries).

A reliable way to be warned of danger – at home or in an RV, boat or cottage.

* In Canada, the Meteorological Service of Canada provides weather bulletins on the Weatheradio network (canada.ca/en/environment-climate-change/services/weatheradio.html). In the U.S., weather information is broadcast by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (weather.gov). Check for availability of service in your area.
