This pair of plans includes the Bow Arm Morris Chair and the Spindle Arm Morris Chair. Each of the 36" x 48" plan is complemented with a detailed instruction book that contains a bill of materials, a cutting list, jig and fixture plans (where necessary), alternative construction notes and suggested finishing techniques.
These chairs are a direct reflection of the work done by William Morris in England in the early 1900s. They are also influenced by the work of Gustav Stickley in America. Both chairs feature quadrilinear leg post construction. The posts have four quarter-sawn oak boards mitered and then glued, a technique that best displays the oak's ray fleck. The instructions explain three different methods of leg construction. Each chair plan includes a footstool plan.
The chairs are 40" high by 36" wide and 42" deep. The plans can also be purchased separately.
