This updated and expanded version of Langsner’s book Country Woodcraft, originally published in 1978, shows you how to make a range of practical items, from workshop tools and farm implements to household objects, using traditional woodworking methods.

Interspersing his original text with current insights and commentary, the author covers the basics of traditional hand tools and sharpening, describes techniques for chopping, splitting and storing wood, and explains how to make a shaving horse, a workbench and a spring-pole lathe. Other projects include a hay fork, bull-tongue plow, wheelbarrow, broom, and trestle table.

Langsner adds an enhanced section on spoon carving and includes appendices on topics such as mortise-and-tenon joinery, oil finishes and carving axes. The concluding appendix, complete with color photographs, shows his outdoors art projects that integrate found materials, painting and sculpture.

An invaluable reference for traditional woodcraft enthusiasts.
