The same high-quality formulation that General uses to make its water-based dye stains, this stain base is low in harmful VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and cleans up easily with soap and water.
Clear and colorless, it can be used to dilute any of General’s water-based dye stains for a softer tone, or to mix your own stain using universal tints. It penetrates deeply and contains a small amount of acrylic resin to minimize grain raising and prevent topcoats from picking up color.
It can be topcoated with water- or oil-based varnish, shellac or nitrocellulose lacquer, and can be used as a pre-stain conditioner to allow more even absorption in resinous woods.
Applied by brushing, spraying or wiping, it dries in 2 to 4 hours. Available in one-quart (946ml/32 fl oz) cans. Coverage is approximately 150 sq.ft./qt.
