Description
Air filters are designed to handle what primary dust collection systems can’t – those fine particles that linger in the air, creating a health hazard and a mess when they settle. This is a good one, filtering 99.7% of airborne particles as fine as 0.1 microns (for comparison, a human hair is about 40 microns thick).
The reason it is so efficient is that it uses an electrostatic filtering system that charges the microscopic airborne particles as they are drawn to the filter, while the oppositely charged filter acts like a magnet to attract and effectively trap them. This system allows capture of the very fine particles that traditional filters miss.
Of the air filtration systems we've tested, this one is the quietest. It offers three fan speeds (441, 567 or 754 cfm), with noise levels ranging from a low 41 dB to 51 dB – about as quiet as a refrigerator. You can adjust the fan speed on the unit or with the included remote control. At the highest setting, it will cycle the air in a 680 sq.ft. space five times per hour.
The built-in timer lets you run it for up to 8 hours before it shuts off automatically. The long-life filter has a service life of 3000 hours at the medium fan speed, and an alarm reminds you to vacuum the filter every 1000 hours.
While the unit is easy to mount, it is designed for portability so you can move it around the shop to target dust closer to the source using the integrated handle. The pivoting head can be locked at the desired angle. Measures about 27" × 25 5/8" × 15" and weighs 38 lb.
