Installed in the V-arm of the sharpening jig, this attachment simplifies grinding both sides of the skew identically. The tool handle registers in pockets on either side of the arm, automatically setting a 30° rake angle. Pivoting the skew gently from side to side reduces the amount of hollow grind, resulting in improved control at the lathe. The same grind is produced on the opposite face by simply switching from one pocket to the other.
