With the spacers slipped between your first row of flooring and the wall, you simply turn the dial to set the desired measurement. A scale marked in millimetre increments of 5mm to 20mm makes it easy to ensure all spacers are set to the same spacing (or you can vary the spacing to compensate for irregularities in the wall surface).
The 3 1/2" wide lip distributes contact over a broad area, helping ensure squareness while minimizing risk of slippage or damage to walls and flooring edges.
