Storage Box for #45 Combination PlaneMade in Canada

Quantity:

The Stanley #45 combination plane was manufactured from 1884 to 1962 and is still in widespread use. The main reason for its enduring popularity is that it works with a variety of interchangeable blades, allowing it to be used for grooving, rabbeting, dadoing, and tongue and groove work, as well as for moldings, nosing, reeding and fluting. While the #45 remains a versatile workhorse in countless workshops, far fewer of the original boxes have survived. We produced this case to hold the plane and a full set of blades and accessories, keeping everything organized, accessible and portable.

It is made from sturdy 9mm thick Baltic birch plywood, with precisely milled dado joints and a clear acrylic sliding lid. The plane is held in the main compartment, with slotted rails along the walls that serve as parking spots for a full set of standard straight, beading, match and sash blades,* while a shelf holds the fence, guide rods and cam rests.

Measuring 8" × 12" × 8" tall, it is a fitting home for a truly classic hand tool. Made in Canada. Assembly hardware included.

* Several other manufacturers made blades for the #45, and many of them don’t match the exact sizes of the original Stanley blades. To ensure they fit securely in the box, instructions are included to modify the existing blade slots if needed without damaging the box.
