Digital Marking Gauge

Quantity:

Special buy. Limited stock.

This tool combines the utility of a marking gauge with the precision of a digital readout, displaying 1/2" high easy-to-read numerals on an LCD screen. Since the gauge is direct reading, you can quickly set the fence without reference to a ruler. What we find especially helpful is that the gauge can be zeroed at any position, then reset to scribe at a precise distance from that point, eliminating the need to make calculations for differential measuring. Readings are given in fractional inches, decimal inches and millimetres (to 1/64", 0.0005" and 0.01mm; accurate to 0.001") and you can convert between units at the touch of a button.

Like any marking gauge, it can be used as a depth/height gauge or for direct measurement transfer, but with the added benefit of a digital readout to verify the result. The 3/8" diameter hardened steel cutting wheel scribes a fine line, even on cross grain, helpful for chisel registration and to prevent tear-out when sawing. The wheel’s single-sided bevel also pulls the gauge face against the stock, helping to maintain accuracy. For protection in storage, the wheel retracts into the fence. Stem and fence are both hardened stainless steel. The 2" × 1 1/4" fence face is machined for reliable reference, and the stem is graduated to 6" by 16ths, and in metric to 150mm. The display shuts off automatically after a few minutes of inactivity to preserve battery life. Button-cell battery included.
