With a semi-solid consistency, Odie’s waxes contain a high proportion of wax and only a small amount of oil, so they buff to the highest sheen of any Odie’s finish, yielding a warm, semi-gloss surface. Available in two formulations, a regular and a dark version, they enhance the figure while only slightly deepening the tone of the wood, and though a low-build finish, they have high resistance to liquids, sunlight and abrasion. The dark version contains oils that oxidize readily to darken the wood, producing a deep, rich patina over time. Application is straightforward – simply work it into the surface using an extra-fine abrasive pad or cloth, and leave it to soak in for 1 to 2 hours before buffing. Only a single coat is required; for greater protection, additional coats may be applied. No sanding is needed between coats, making the finish easy to renew or repair. Both formulations can also be applied on top of Odie’s oils and other oil finishes to increase sheen and improve resistance to moisture and wear.
