Odie’s oils are a blend of natural oils and waxes for use on all domestic and exotic woods, producing a durable, food-safe finish with a matte sheen. Available in two formulations, a regular and a dark version, they enhance the figure and deepen the color of the wood, and, though a low-build finish, they have high resistance to liquids, sunlight and abrasion. The dark formulation contains oils that oxidize more readily than Odie’s Universal Oil, producing a deeper, darker patina over time. Application is straightforward – simply work one of the oils into the surface using an extra-fine abrasive pad or cloth, and leave it to soak in for 1 to 2 hours before buffing. Only a single coat is required; for greater protection, additional coats may be applied. No sanding is needed between coats, making the finish easy to renew or repair. To get a satin sheen, the oils can be top-coated with Odie’s Wood Butter, or to obtain a semi-gloss shine, they can be top-coated with Odie’s Hard Wax.
