This is a well-made mid-size lathe, with a robust 1 hp motor controlled by PWM (pulse width modulation) technology. This advanced control system ensures consistent rpm and torque, even under heavy loads and low speeds, making it well suited for roughing or dense woodwork.
Made from cast iron and steel, it weighs 118 lb, giving it the mass needed to dampen vibration yet still be easily moved around the workshop.
As supplied, the lathe provides a 12 1/2" swing and a 15 1/2" center-to-center capacity, providing ample space for a variety of turning projects. With the optional 20" bed extension, the center-to-center capacity extends to nearly 36", accommodating longer spindle work. For larger-diameter work such as bowls, the lathe supports outboard turning and can be equipped with the 10" outboard bed kit (sold separately) for work up to 16" in diameter.
The lathe offers three easily changed speed ranges: low (50 to 525 rpm), mid (325 to 1750 rpm) and high (650 to 3500 rpm). The cam mechanism allows one-handed, toolless drive-belt changes between pulleys to set the speed range. Once the range is selected, the precise speed can be dialed in using the knob on the control panel, with the speed displayed on the easy-to-read LCD screen. The control panel includes a forward/reverse toggle button to change the direction of spindle rotation.
Equipped with a graduated indexing head to lock the spindle for fluting, drilling or pattern work, the lathe uses a 1" × 8 tpi spindle and a #2 MT headstock and tailstock, ensuring compatibility with a wide array of standard accessories. A spur center, a live center, a 3" face plate, a face-plate wrench, a 6" hardened steel tool rest with a 1" diameter post, and a center knock-out rod are included.
Manufacturer’s warranty is 2 years.
Optional accessories include an adjustable stand and a wheel system.
