8" Tortilla Press

This item is not available for this region.

Making fresh homemade tortillas can seem intimidating, but it’s actually quite easy if you have a good-quality tortilla press. While they can be difficult to find, we came across this heavy-duty cast-iron one that flattens the dough (corn or flour) into perfectly thin tortillas with minimal effort.

Made in Colombia by a family-owned company specializing in cast-iron cookware since 1939, it weighs nearly 8 lb, which is partly why it works so well. Once you place your ball of dough on the base plate and pull the top plate down, the weight alone is almost enough to flatten it into an even circular tortilla. To finish the job, you just need to push the lever down with light pressure, and it is ready to cook.

The handle is 9" long, and the plates have an 8" diameter with a textured surface that maintains seasoning better than smoothed cast-iron surfaces. It comes pre-seasoned with 100% kosher certified, non-GMO flaxseed oil. Just as with any cast-iron product, proper maintenance and re-seasoning are required.
