Large Soil Blocker

This item is not available for this region.

This large soil blocker is used in conjunction with the smaller soil block mold (sold separately). It allows you to transplant seedlings that were started in the smaller 2" cubes as they grow and require extra room.

The large soil blocker makes one block at a time with a 4" base tapering to 3 5/8" at the top and a height of 4", and includes a sturdy press that forms a square indentation on top of the block.

Once a seedling has begun to outgrow the smaller cube, transplant it into the indentation in the top of the large block. When ready to be planted out, the large block can be placed directly into the ground, saving you time and trouble as well as minimizing transplant shock.

Filled with a simple potting mix that you prepare from coir, compost, sand and soil amendments, the large soil blocker forms one lightly compressed block of planting medium that is firm enough for handling, so no pot is required.

Because the block holds moisture well and permits good aeration, seedlings grow quickly. As roots grow to the edges, they are naturally air pruned, forming a robust, fibrous root structure.

Produced by a small British firm, the mold is well made, easy to use and reusable year after year.
