Made in Canada from natural, sustainably grown hemp fiber with a pulp backing, these squares provide an environmentally friendly way to suppress weeds, insulate plants and shrubs, and retain water for growth. The strong, lightweight material blocks light to inhibit weed development, and also absorbs five times its own weight in water to help keep delicate young plants moist.
Suitably sized for square-foot gardening, each flexible 12" × 12" square has a slit that slips easily around the base of a plant, and can remain in place until the material naturally breaks down into the soil. Sold in packages of five.
