Mirka DEROS Sanders – Dust Extraction & Sander Speed

The Mirka DEROS lets you work quickly and efficiently with minimal dust, noise and vibration. It is compatible with the full range of Mirka abrasives to achieve consistent surface finishes in a range of applications. Here’s an overview of how to get started.

Basics of Using Your Sander

Always use the sander with dust extraction (Photo 1).

As a general guideline, set both the suction power and the sander speed to higher settings when removing lots of materials using coarse abrasive. For fine sanding, set the suction and sander speed to medium.

Speed Modes

The sander has two speed control modes. You can select the desired control mode by pressing the rpm+ and rpm- buttons simultaneously.

In the default control mode, you can change the speed linearly by pressing the control paddle down less or more (Photos 2 & 3).

Photo 3 – Pressing the paddle all the way down sets the speed to the maximum rpm.

In the other control mode, you can change the maximum rpm by pressing either the rpm+ or rpm- button with the sander running or stopped, but it’s easier to dial in your ideal speed with the sander running – unless that happens to be at either end of the range (Photos 3 & 4).
