What should I be aware of before I start painting?

  1. Allbäck paint adheres to any clean, dry, porous surface and can be used indoors or out.

  2. If you are re-painting a previously painted surface, clean it first with a dilute solution of Allbäck linseed oil soap.

  3. On a raw or dried-out wood surface, apply Allbäck boiled linseed oil first to help limit absorption.

A pre-treatment of Allback boiled linseed oil helps the paint absorb more evenly.

  1. The drying time for Allbäck paint is highly dependent on temperature and humidity. At room temperature and low humidity (50% or less), about 24 hours is typical. Lower temperatures and higher humidity can increase this significantly – by a factor of two or three in our experience. Do not use if the ambient temperature is less than 14°C.

  2. If using indoors, ensure the space is adequately ventilated.

  3. Knots can be coated with shellac to help prevent bleed-through.
