PVA (polyvinyl acetate) glue is probably the most familiar family of woodworking adhesives, available in a wide variety of formulas, including the ubiquitous white glue found in most households as well as wood glue, with some versions being moderately water resistant. PVA glues are well suited to woodworking applications but are also effective for bonding other materials, making them an equally good choice for crafting and minor home repairs. They provide a reasonably strong bond and cure in around 24 hours at room temperature. They adhere well to most domestic woods, veneer, paper and cardboard, providing both substrates are porous. PVA glues come as a single part, requiring no mixing of separate components. Water based, they are non-toxic glues that give off little to no odor, and they clean up easily with just a cloth and a little water.
