Odie's Dark Oil

This item is not available for this region.

This formulation contains oils that oxidize more readily than Odie’s Universal Oil, producing a deeper, darker patina over time. It can be used on any wood species, yielding a durable, food-safe finish with a matte sheen.

A blend of natural oils and waxes, it is free of solvents and VOCs. Application is straightforward – simply work it into the surface using an extra-fine abrasive pad or cloth, and leave it to soak in for 1 to 2 hours before buffing.

It enhances the figure and deepens the color of the wood, and though a low-build finish, it has high resistance to liquids, sunlight and abrasion. Only a single coat is required; for greater protection, additional coats may be applied. No sanding is needed between coats, making the finish easy to renew or repair.

Exceptionally high-yield, it provides coverage of approximately 190 sq.ft. per 9 oz jar, depending on the porosity of the wood. Drying time is about 24 hours; for contact with food or liquids, allow 3 to 5 days to cure fully. Suitable for interior woodwork only.

Can be top-coated with Odie’s Dark Butter for a satin sheen or Dark Wax to obtain a semi-gloss shine and to increase durability.
