What Is It?
At 6-1/2" long, each includes a section made to accommodate the heel of a boot or shoe. Created for winter use wherever foot traction was a concern, they are commonly known as ice crampons. Using some sort of strap (leather, rope, etc.), you would simply attach them to a boot or shoe to provide extra traction in icy conditions.

Each of these items includes a cartouche detailing where they were made ("Montreal", "Made in Canada"), the fact that they were patented ("Pat.") and the partial name of the manufacturer. Unfortunately, the stamp was angled so as to obliterate the maker's full name.
