Hirsch #9 Bent Gouges

Produced by one of Germany’s oldest tool-making firms, these professional-quality gouges are the style traditionally favored by European carvers. The natural finish hornbeam handles have excellent impact resistance, and their octagonal shape gives a secure grip and prevents rolling on the bench. The fully polished blades are hand forged from high-carbon steel, hardened to Rc61 for durability, and require only final stropping.

These bent gouges have the same lateral curvature as straight gouges, but with a gradual curve along their length.

Ideal for working concave shapes where a straight blade limits access.

They will last a lifetime with normal care.
